BaikalNature has worked out a wide range of tours that vary from a simple city tour (3-4 hours) to a round voyage of 3 weeks. It is with great pleasure that we invite travellers to discover the region of Lake Baikal in all its manifestations and in maximum possible comfort. But as the environment is fragile we do it with conscious responsibility. Respecting its landscapes, fauna, flora and the way of life of its people is a priority for us as well as for our travellers.
Together with you we are ready to meet the challenge: all partakers of BaikalNature act as caretakers of the planet’s future. Thus, we eagerly join for initiatives of responsible tourism hoping for the Russian and Mongolian natural heritage protection to become a number one priority for the sake of the brilliant future of these lands.
BaikalNature undertakes to respect and to protect its region and its different ecosystems. Listed below are the main criteria to be applied during your tour:
- Not to pluck either rare plants or other protected species, nor to touch or move natural and/or cultural elements like rock paintings, artifacts…
- Not to kill animals, insects or birds met on the way.
- Not to leave trash, garbage or other refuse at locations along the route but take it with you to throw away in designated areas for this purpose. If before your coming the nature was untouched it should stay the same after your leaving. Finding some garbage at a location is not a viable reason to add some more.
- Start a fire only in designated areas or at sites of previous campfires. It is forbidden to make new ones. Only brushwood should be used. Do not forget to encircle the zone with stones to avoid a wildfire.
- Follow the very paths already existing during your trek. When travelling in a 4x4 (especially in the steppe) do not turn off the country track, for trampled grass takes many years to grow back.
- Do not drive in immediate proximity to the shore. Never wash vehicles or any other objects in the lake, in the rivers or other water bodies of the region.
