Tajikistan, situated on the Silk Road, has a rich and eventful history, from Samanids  to Mongols, from Tamerlane to Russians. It is clearly seen on the evidence of archaeological remains, such as those of Panjakent City. After the collapse of Soviet Union, Tajikistan declared its independence. Unfortunately, it did not prevent the republic from some dark years. Having restored the stability, the country finally opened to tourists. Tajikistan can make you dizzy. More than a half of the country is over 3,000 meters (9,800 ft) above sea level, its territory is almost entirely covered with high mountains. Ismoil Somoni Peak in the Pamir Mountains is 7495 m high. It is said to be the home of the Yeti ... The snowy peaks contain many lakes such as the picturesque Iskanderkul. Gorges, canyons and valleys make beautiful sceneries. Tajikistan is a special destination. You will like a visit to its friendly locals!
