See map »
The Moscow Kremlin is the oldest part of the city, the main historic and political complex of Moscow and the official residence of the President of Russia. First structures on the territory of the current Kremlin appeared in 1156. The Kremlin is located on Borovitsky Hill on the left bank of the Moskva River where the Neglinnaya River flows into it. The irregular triangle of the Kremlin wall encloses an area of 275,000 sq m (68 acres). The southern part of the wall overlooks the Moskva River, the north-western one - the Alexander Garden, and the eastern one - Red Square.
