The Monument of Friendship between Russia and Japan was put up in Irkutsk in August 1994 according to the project of the Japanese party. In 1967 Irkutsk and Kanadzava became twin cities on initiative of Sigeki Mori, father of the Japanese ex-prime minister. The symmetrical halves of the monument embody Russia and Japan, and the egg beside these halves is the germ of new future and new ways in collaboration of two states.
