The head office of the Baikalo-Lensky Nature Reserve, Solnechnaya weather station, is situated on Pokoyniki Cape. It was called Pokoiny (“quite”) because of permanent good and breathless weather. There is a path leading from the cape to the source of a great Siberian river – the Lena. The path goes along the Baikalsky Mountain Range, then turns to Solntsepad (lowland) and starts going up a steep stone slope. The Lena source itself is not far from the passover, in a dish-shaped valley overgrown with peat moss and dwarf willow.
