The Tsar Bell is a monument of Russian foundry practice of the 18th century. The giant bell was founded from bronze by masters Ivan and Mikhail Motorin on 25 November 1735 on the order of Empress Anna, niece of Peter the Great. The bell is currently the largest bell in the world weighing about 200 tons, with a height of 6.14 m (20.1 ft) and diameter of 6.6 m (21.6 ft). The Tsar Bell was placed on a stone pedestal next to the Ivan the Great Bell Tower in the Moscow Kremlin in 1836.
