Sagan-Zaba Cape

Western shore of Lake Baikal, 5 km/3 mi northeast of Krestovsky Cape
See map »
Sagan-Zaba Rock is one of the most beautiful places of the western shore of Lake Baikal. This rock is well outlined against the rest of shore because it is composed of light-coloured limestone rocks. Worldwide reputation of this cape is caused by ancient rock carvings (petroglyphs) on one of its rocks. These rock carvings are made in different epochs and date to the Bronze – late Iron Ages (II century B.C. - I century A.C.) so that the most ancient petroglyph is about 4000 years old.
