It is dedicated to those who are searching for tranquil and homey stay as part of discovery of sumptuous nature. You will go to a rustic farm located 200 km (125 mi) north-east of Irkutsk on the shore of Lake Baikal to find yourself in the Pribaikalsky National Park, one of the spots where you can still meet wild animals. We will celebrate the New Year's Eve together with homestay hosts - an elderly couple - and will taste traditional festive dishes usually served in every Siberian family. In addition we won't miss visiting principal museums to learn about the culture and the history of the region, we will go snowmobiling and take a boat tour to enjoy all the beauty of the winter Baikal and its surroundings. Arrival at Irkutsk. Airport transfer not included. Homestay accommodation. Rest. After lunch walking city tour: square of foundation of the city, churches, wooden houses, the Decembrists museum. Dinner and overnight at homestay.
Day 2
Drive to the village of Listvyanka located 70 km (44 mi) south-east of Irkutsk on the shores of Lake Baikal. On the way visit to Taltsy - open-air museum of wooden architecture - to discover typical Siberian village of the 18th – 19th cen. Opportunity to slide on cow skins – traditional Russian amusement. Arrival at Listvyanka, visit to the museum of Lake Baikal, learning about the Baikal flora and fauna. Lunch at restaurant. Accommodation at hotel. Walks, discovery of local wooden church, Christmas tree.
Day 3
Morning snowmobiling through taiga of the Pribaikalsky National Park northwards. Return to Listvyanka, lunch. After lunch 2-hour boat tour on the winter Baikal. In the midst of Arctic landscapes you will admire surrounding mountains with snow-covered tops, the old Circum-Baikal Railway, and Port Baikal. In the afternoon transfer to Irkutsk. Homestay overnight.
Day 4
Drive through taiga and steppes towards Krestovsky Cape to a welcoming farm situated not far from the shore of Lake Baikal where we will celebrate the New Year's Eve. On the way visit to the national Buryat museum in Ust-Orda. Lunch in a cafe serving Buryat cuisine, tasting traditional dishes. Arrival to farm. We will be accommodated in a rustic house with simple comfort but hearty welcome. Banya in the evening.
Day 5
Walk to the shores to discover remains of the Kurykans fortress (6th – 11th cen.) After the lunch visit of rock drawings of Sagan-Zaba Cape. The New Year's Eve celebratory dinner in magic atmosphere of Siberian remote.
Day 6
In the morning visit of National Park, sault lakes, sacred buryat mountain Yehe-Yerdoy. In the afternoon return to Irkutsk. Homestay accommodation.
Day 7
Departure after breakfast. Airport transfer not included. End of the programme.
