We offer you to leave for a week holiday in Siberia to enjoy a wonderful stay on the shores of Lake Baikal and in the Sayan Mountains and to celebrate Orthodox Christmas in a rustic but welcoming inn. You will go dog sledding through Siberian taiga departing from Listvyanka to Chernaya Pad (valley) where typical log house is situated. Along with mentioned above, excursion by the old Circum-Baikal Railway and discovery of traditional Buryat village and picturesque mountains are in the programme. You will also have a free day in Listvyanka to choose an activity to your taste : skiing, snowmobiling or diving to explore the bottom of this unique Baikal Lake. Tour Programme:Day 1
Meeting in the centre of Irkutsk city, leave for the village of Listvyanka by bus. There we will take ferry to Port Baikal to board the excursion train of the Circum-Baikal Railway. We will discover its tunnels and bridges located on the very shore of Lake Baikal. In the evening arrival to Slyudyanka. Transfer to Buryat village of Arshan (120 km / 75 mi) through a picturesque valley of the Tunkinsky National Park. Homestead accommodation.
Day 2
Discovery of typical village located at the foot of the Sayan Mountains, so-called "Siberian Alps". Walk in the forest to the Buddhist temple - Datsan. Discovery of the sacred forest along the Kyngarga River with marble bottom. In the evening return to Irkutsk (210 km / 130 mi). Homestay overnight.
Day 3
Drive to Listvyanka situated on the shore of Lake Baikal, 70 km (44 mi) from Irkutsk. En route visit to the open-air museum of wooden architecture - Taltsy. Lunch at the museum, atmosphere of the 18th cen. Arrival in Listvyanka, discovery of the village: local market of fish (omul and others), wooden church, the Limnological museum. Inn overnight.
Day 4
Free time in the morning. At 14:00 after the lunch, dog sledding and snowmobiling start through taiga northwards to Chernaya Pad (Dark valley), so called because of dense forest. Overnight in log cabin. Banya and special dinner to celebrate Russian Christmas.
Day 5
Return to Listvyanka by dog sleds. Lunch at restaurant overlooking Lake Baikal. Transfer to the inn. Free time. Optional skating on frozen lake (at extra cost).
Day 6
Free day to ski at small ski station of Listvyanka or to try diving in the winter Baikal. In the evening return to Irkutsk. End of the programme.
