Strong Points Of The Tour:Discovery of unique landscapes of the Barguzin valley Acquaintance with the culture and the way of life of today's Evenks Tour Overview:The Evenks populated the taiga zone stretching from the Irtysh river to the Sea of Okhotsk including the territories of the Lena river, the Angara river and Lake Baikal. These people were the most numerous in Siberia. Their main occupations were reindeer breeding, hunting and fishing. This outstanding tour invites you to discover the remains of authentic culture. It will take you to the real backwoods of Buryatia. However, even if the Evenks do not live in raw-hide tents any more and do not raise deer to survive, these people of woods still keep their particular lifestyle. A trail will bring us to the end of the Barguzin valley where we will discover a typical village isolated by its location and perhaps... by time... Tour Programme:Day 1
400-km (249-mi) day journey
Morning leave for the Barguzin valley by 4x4. There live the descendants of the Evenks having settled there before the Buryats and the Russians came. Tour of the village, visit to the Evenk cultural centre and local museum. Lunch in the village. We will stop over on the way in some holy and worship sites. We will visit thermal springs, the gorge of the Alla river. Return to Ust-Barguzin in the evening.
