The Svyatoy Nos Peninsula forms the two largest gulfs of Lake Baikal - Chivyrkuysky and Barguzinsky. Chivyrkuysky Gulf is 26 km/16 mi long and its width varies between 6 and 12 km (4 and 7.5 mi). Its shores are beautifully embayed and covered with dense forest. The depth of the gulf usually does not exceed 10 m/32 ft that is why the water is relatively warm in summer - from 19° to 23°C (66° to 74°F). In some places the gulf abounds in fish.
Barguzinsky Gulf is the largest gulf of the lake: the gulf basin is over 700 sq km (270 sq mi). Its waters are known for plenty of fish.
