Tour Overview:

Immersion in the Baikal taiga on Buryat horses and discovery of the flora and fauna of the Pribaikalsky National Park - here is what this saddle tour offers you. During the ride of a total length of 30 km/19 mi you will cross paths through the woods, tiny brooks in marshlands and uplands.

The tour is designed for experienced riders who are at ease while walking and trotting. Your participation will be needed to curry, saddle and unsaddle horses with the help of your Russian guide. You can also participate in feeding horses.

Tour Programme:

Day 1

Meeting at about 10.00 am in the riding centre of Bolshiye Koty owned by a villager (please make sure you arrive in the village the day before or contact us for hydrofoil ticket and accommodation booking). We will meet our horses, learn horse handling techniques, and saddle up. Horseback ride starts and winds through taiga in northwest direction, to Khartaktay valley. Night in tent.

Day 2

Our ride continues across the valley. Discovery of the remains of ancient settlement of political deportees in the 20th century. Ascent of the highest mount in this area, Sapun Mount (1178 m/3864 ft) where you will have a spectacular view of the surroundings. Overnight in winter hut at the foot of the mount.

Day 3

Today we will head down to the valley of Maliye Koty. On the way discovery of the traces of diggers activity and of unique Baikal fauna and flora. Return to the village of Bolshiye Koty by 4.00 pm. End of the programme.
