Tour Overview

Here is a true dive into unspoiled nature of Lake Baikal! Exciting itinerary off the beaten trail and complete autonomy will allow you to admire various landscapes - impenetrable taiga, majestic cliffs and the mirror of the Baikal waters. You will discover Kadilnaya valley where in days gone by they had the minerals processing for soda production, Skriper cape with its breathtaking view of the lake and a scenic rock called the "devil's bridge".

This tour is intended for experienced riders knowing how to walk and trot on horseback. Your participation will be needed to curry, saddle and unsaddle horses with the help of your Russian guide. You can also participate in feeding horses.

Tour programme
  • Day 1
    Meeting at about 10.00 am in the riding centre of Bolshiye Koty owned by a villager (please make sure you arrive in the village the day before or contact us for hydrofoil ticket and accommodation booking). We will meet our horses, learn horse handling techniques, and saddle up. Horseback ride starts and takes us northwest, towards the highest mount in this area, Sapun Mount (1178 m/3864 ft). Moving along the Primorsky Range we will reach Bolshoy Maryan valley. Night in tent at an elevation of 972 m/3190 ft above sea level.
  • Day 2
    Horse trekking continues in the north direction to Bolshaya Kadilnaya valley, beautiful valley presenting unique Alpine flora - edelweiss, daisy, etc. Night in tent in the valley.
  • Day 3
    Day at leisure in Bolshaya Kadilnaya valley. Discovery of caves, places where prehistoric humans lived.
  • Day 4
    Riding south along the Baikal shores, we will return to Bolshiye Koty. We will get over the "devil's bridge" – the path pierced in the rock and Skriper cape, we will ford the rivers and discover the rock of gulls. Arrival in the village in late afternoon. End of the programme.
