70 km away from Irkutsk, on the spot where the Angara takes its source, Listvyanka, the most accessible village from the lake, is located. We will go early in the morning to visit its sights, to walk along the shore, to climb hills enjoying a breathtaking view on the Baikal. Many years ago the cargoes of tea, salt, meat, fish and furs were transferred through the port of Listvyanka. At the Soviet time the Institute of Limnology of the lake, that is now in Irkutsk, was located there and conducted great researches on this gigantic natural laboratory called Lake Baikal. The building of the Institute in Listvyanka is nowadays the Baikal museum. It has unique expositions representing the variety of the Baikal flora and fauna.
