The village of Bolshiye Koty is the closest place to Irkutsk where you can enjoy quietude... No automobile road (like in Listvyanka), no flow of motorists. Due to this barrier of 20 km long, you will believe finding yourself at the ends of the world. That is an old village of gold diggers, where we will go by hydrofoil "Raketa" - kind of public transport of the Soviet time. The voyage starts at the port of Irkutsk and takes one hour and a half.

We will go along the shores of the Angara and Lake Baikal. In Bolshiye Koty we will discover a small welcoming Baikal museum, we will climb the mountain to meditate admiring the panorama of the lake, we will walk in taiga to find the remnants of the old gold dredges and finally, if not tired, we will climb Skriper Cape, a breathtaking place...

Day 1 Early morning transfer by car to the port of Irkutsk, boarding hydrofoil, departure to Bolshiye Koty. In an hour and a half arrival in the village. Accommodation at locals'. Lunch, traditional kitchen. Visit to museum. Walking in taiga and climbing the main mountain of the village (30 min). Dinner. Night at the home-stay. Possibility to take banya (Russian bath).

Day 2 Excursion to Skriper Cape in the north direction (tiresome enough) or way to the south (well traced path). Lunch with locals. In the afternoon return to Irkutsk by boat (at about 7 p.m.). Transfer to the hotel or to the station. End of the programme.
