The Circumbaikal Railroad streches for 84km and connects the village of Kultuk with the Baikal Port. It has more than 424 engineering constructions including 39 tunnels, all of 8994 metres long. At the dangerous places 14 buttresses, 47 stone galleries and 3 iron ones were built. Because of scope, difficulties and cost of work, this part of Trans-Siberian has no equal among all the railroads of our country. In Russia before the revolution people called it "the golden buckle of the iron belt of Russia".
