This option will allow you to discover the picturesque line of the Old Circumbaikal Railroad and two charming different villages: Listvyanka and Bolshiye Koty. You will like the quiet step of this cultural journey in the south of the Baikal.
Called "Krugobaikalka"in Russian, this part of the Trans-Siberian Railroad, the genius of architectural engineering, was built at the beginning of 20th century. The way was encrusted in the abrupt shore of Lake Baikal what boggles the imagination. Discovering beautiful landscapes, you will also learn about the culture and the history.

We will visit the sights of Listvyanka, will walk a little on the lakeside, will climb a hill to enjoy a breathtaking view on Lake Baikal.
In Bolshiye Koty we will discover a small welcoming Baikal museum, will climb the mountain to admire the panorama of the lake, we will walk in taiga to see the old gold dredgers. The next day, we will climb Skriper Cape to enjoy a breathtaking view... In the village we will stay at locals’. We will return to city by hydrofoil "Raketa".

Course of the programme :

Day 1
Transfer to the station of Irkutsk at about 8 a.m. Departure by train to the south of the lake. Change of locomotive (we stay in the same coach) – the Old Railroad runs on diesel fuel. Excursion, frequent visits to cultural and picturesque places. While stopping your guide will tell you about the place or its history. Lunch on the train. Arrival in Port Baikal, boarding the ferry, crossing the mouth of the Angara, arrival in Listvyanka. Accommodation at the gest-house, dinner.
Day 3
Visit to Listvyanka. Port of the village and typical saleswomen of omul. If you wish - tasting of smoked omul (endemic fish of the lake). Buying souvenirs sold near smoke houses. Lunch at the restaurant facing the lake. Going to Bolshiye Koty by hydrofoil (30 minutes). Accommodation at locals’ in the village. Visit to the Baikal museum. Going for a walk. Dinner. In the evening oportunity to take a banya (Russian bath). Homestay overnight.

Day 2
Excursion to Skriper Cape to the north, ascending the cape at your desire (tiresome enough, but it is worth doing!). Return to the village. Lunch at locals’. Climbing the main mountain of the village (30 min, rather easy) to see a splendid panorama of the lake. In the afternoon return to Irkutsk by hydrofoil. Arrival in Irkutsk at about 7 p.m. Transfer to the station or to the hotel. End of the programme.
