Evenks lived in taiga which extends from the Irtysh-river to the Sea of Okhotsk, including the territories of the Lena-river, the Angara-river and Lake Baikal. These people were the most numerous in Siberia. Their main activities were reindeer breeding, hunting and fishing.

This exceptional trip invites you to discover the remains of authentic culture. It really brings you in the depths of Buryatia. Although Evenks do not live in "Chums" (tents) any more and do not breed reindeers to survive any more, these people of forests still lead a particular life.

A trail will lead us to the end of Barguzinskaya valley where we will discover a typical village, isolated by its location and perhaps... by time...

We will devote a whole day to explore Chivyrkuyskiy gulf, the most beautiful gulf of Lake Baikal, on board of a fishing boat.

Day 1 Transfer to the bus station of Ulan-Ude at about 9 a.m. Departure to Ust-Barguzin by bus (240 km). We will cross taiga and reach the Baikal lakeside, then our way will be along-shore (and sometimes it is only a track, not road...). Arrival to the village. Homestay accommodation, lunch.Discovery of village, walk along the shore. Dinner with locals. In the evening banya (Russian sauna).

Day 2 Morning departure by offroadster to Barguzinskaya valley. There live the ancestors of Evenks settled here long before the arrival of Buryats and Russians. Visit to village, evenk art centre, and museum. Lunch in the village. On the way we will make stops in the places of worship and sacred ones. We will visit thermal sources, the gorge of the Alla-river. Return to Ust-Barguzin in the evening, overnight at the home-stay. Opportunity to take banya.

Day 3 All the day excursion to the Baikal. Early in the morning we will go by offroadster to the hamlet of Monakhovo along the strip of sand which separates two gulfs. On the way - discovery of Barguzinskiy Gulf and Svyatoy Nos Peninsula. Boarding a fishing boat, large tour to the Chivyrkuyskiy Gulf. Visit to Zmeynaya Bay and its hot springs, bathe. Lunch in the open air - you will appreciate local food, an endemic fish - fresh omul. Return to Ust-Barguzin in the evening, overnight at homestay, opportunity to take banya.

Day 4 After breakfast return to Ulan-Ude early in the morning. Arrival to the city at about 2 p.m., transfer to the hotel or to the station. End of the programme.
