Hiking in the steppes of Olkhon to admire the view as far as the eye can see - this is the goal of this tour. We offer you to discover breathtaking landscapes, to make unforgettable acquaintances, to feel time and space, to spend nights in the open air and to discover places of shamanic worship. During this travel we will bear only our flasks and cameras, all our luggage will be transferred by offroadster.

The island is the geographical, historic and sacred heart of the lake, the land of legends and traditions. Olkhon is the largest island of Lake Baikal. Located in the centre of the lake near its deepest point (1637m), only Olkhon combines all the diversity of landscapes of the Baikaly. It is a particular area with its microclimate, its fauna and its perfect flora. The island is 72 km long and 15 km wide with the surface of 730 km². Shore line is an alternation of cliffs and sandy bays, forests change into steppes where the winds of Lake Baikal work like skilful artists. Taiga covers the eastern shore of the island.

Day 1 Early in the morning departure to the island by car. Lunch on the way in a Buryat restaurant. Stops in picturesque places on the way. At noon: arrival on Olkhon. Arrival in Khuzhir, the main village of the island. Accommodation in the homestead kept by a resident of the village, 200 metres away from the shore. In the afternoon: discovery of Burkhan rock. Walking around the village, visiting port.

days 2 et 3 Hiking from Khuzhir to the village of Uzury. We will spend the night on the sandy beach near the village of Khalgay. You will hike light, your luggage will be transferred by offroadster. The driver will prepare bivouacs and meal. Overnight in tent or in the open air – as you like.

Arrival in Uzury at the end of the 3rd day, homestay accommodation, banya.

Day 4 Day devoted to discovery of surroundings of Uzury. Cabotage by fishing boat to cape Ijimey, to the south of Uzury. Optional climb the highest mountain on Olkhon Island, wonderful panorama of the lake. Homestay overnight.

Day 5 Hiking to Khoboy Cape, the northern point of the island, shamanic sacred place. An unbounded view will open to you, in good weather you will see all the surface of Lake Baikal. Picnic near the cape. Return to Khuzhir by offroadster. Homestead overnight.

Day 6 Spare time in the morning. Opportunity to rent a mountain bike. In the afternoon return to Irkutsk by scheduled bus. Arrival in Irkutsk at about 8 p.m. Transfer to the station, the airport or the hotel. End of the programme.
