This hike is aiming to get a unique experience of crossing the Baikal in its broadest part. It evolves between two largest islands of the lake, Olkhon and Svyatoy Nos, in an Arctic setting of the side of world. The trip requires to you an excellent physical preparation and the proper "morale" because we will be autonomous pending three days during which you have to be ready for everything. Generally in March the weather is rather favorable and you would say, in return, that it was not so hard that we had feared, but it can appear a real hard time during blizzard and cold, which can fall suddenly ... A warned man is worth two !

Besides the "sport" of the trip, we will have the opportunity to make some discoveries on Olkhon and the Chivyrkuyskyi Gulf. You will enjoy the bathe in full winter in the hot water sources located in three meters from the shore of Baikal, the participation in fishing with locals and, certainly, after this "frost", the heat of the Russian banya !

Day 1 Departure early in the morning to the Olkhon island by bus of line. About midday: arrival to Olkhon. Arrival to Kuzhyr, main village. Installation at the homestead which keeps an inhabitant of the village, in 200 meters of lakeside. Lunch. Preparation of bags. In the afternoon: visit to Burkhan rock, residence of God of Baikal, place of shamanic worship and one of the nine Buddhist sanctuaries of Asia. Visit to the village.

Day 2 Early in the morning: way by jeep to the starting point, Uzury, in the North-East of the island. We will pass a whole day to explore the neighbourhoods of this small hamlet at the end of the island, walk to the south to discover huge smooth surfaces of ice, incredible scenery. Possibility to climb a mountain to admire the panorama on frozen Baikal. Lunch by the fire. Night at the home-stay, banya in the evening.

days 3 to 5 Beginning of the crossing. In direction of the Ust-Barguzin village we will pass the place where Baikal is the broadest and the deepest. We will spend two nights under the tent and will eat heat food every evening (food cooked on gas). At the end of the fourth day, arrival to Ust-Barguzin. Night in warm at the home-saty. Banya and good beds are assured !

Day 6 Day off. Excursion by jeep in the Chivyrkuysky gulf. Bathe in the hot water sources of the Zmeynaya bay. Meeting with fishermen, participation in ice fishing. Lunch outdoors. Return to the village, night at the home-stay.

Day 7 Way to Ulan-Ude. The road follows the shore of the lake then passes through taiga. Arrival to the city, about 2 p.m., transfer to the hotel or the station. End of the program.
