Sukachov Estate

The estate of Vladimir Platonovich Sukachov, a famed public figure of Irkutsk and founder of the first art gallery behind the Urals, was built in the 1870s-1880s. Nowadays it is a historic and architectural monument of federal significance. Restoration and reconstruction of former appearance of the buildings and the structures were finished in 2008. The guest wing, the stable, the domestics’ house and the main building with three rooms where visitors can see Sukachov’s documents, personal things and photos, are open to the public. There are two permanent exhibitions at the estate: “V. Sukachov. Epoch. Fate” and “Sukachov’s contemporaries”. Folk and orthodox festivals, charitable events with the participation of folk groups of Irkutsk are also regularly held on the estate’s territory.
