Tauride Garden
The Tauride Garden is a landscape garden covering an area of 21,1 ha. Located n the city center of Saint Petersburg it was opened to the public in 1886.
Its creation dates back to the building of Tauride Palace for Grigory Potemkin in the 18th century. Tauride is a former Russian province located in the South of Ukraine and including Crimea of which Potemkin was the governor at the time.
Tauride Garden, that counts several monuments including one erected in memory of Pyotr Chaikovsky, is very popular among the population of the city. People like to come and rest on the large ares of grass and walk around the various ponds.
