Monument to Alexander Pushkin
As the one hundred years of the Pushkin's death (1799-1837) came closer a project was born to erect a monument dedicated to him. In the end the project was only completed in 1957. It was erected on the square of Arts, in front of the Russian Museum.
The statue depicting the poet is 4 meters-high. It was designed by sculptor Mikhail Anikuchin and architect Vasily Petrov. It was melted in bronze by the Monumentskulptura factory in Leningrad. It was awarded with the Lenin prize in 1958.
