White Trinity Church
Erected in 1564, the White Trinity Church is the most ancient extant architectural structure in Tver. It is also the only church in Tver that avoided the fate of the majority of religious structures in the Soviet period of history. The White Trinity Church was not destroyed in the Soviet Era and the divine services continued in it uninterruptedly, unlike in most of the churches in Russia. The church was rebuilt a few times but its grandeur and monumentality characteristic of the XVIth cen. have been preserved. Inside the church there is a unique iconostasis and wall paintings of the XVIII-XIXth centuries.
