City Embankment of the Amur River
The central part of the embankment belongs to the Amursky rock (rock of Amur), one of the most beautiful places in Khabarovsk. Near the rock there is a monument to N.N. Muravyev-Amursky, general-governor of the Eastern Siberia. A park was laid out on the terraces of the steep bank of the river. In 1951 a monument to G.I. Nevelsky, famous seafarer and explorer of Russian Far East, who was associate of N.N. Muravyev-Amursky, was put up on the upper terrace of the park. The embankment has a stadium after V.I. Lenin, which was built in 1957 and is still the only major sports complex in the Far East. At the foot of the Amursky rock there is a city beach and berths. This is the starting point for the river communication between Khabarovsk, its outskirts and other communities and settlements down the river. From any point of the embankment there is an excellent view of neighboring China.
