Opera and Ballet Theatre
The Yekaterinburg State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre was built in 1912 on the money of the citizens. The construction took 8 years.
The first opera staged in the theatre was "A Life for the Tsar" by M. Glinka. Rich traditions of private theatrical enterprises, tour companies and city musical societies helped the theatre to gain confidence and become famous.
The theatre has cultural links and contacts with Italy, Germany, the United States, Great Britain and Korea. Famous guest actors often perform on its stage, and international musical festivals take place there.
