Monument to Lenin

The monument to Vladimir Lenin, one-of-a-kind with its artistic shape, it is the main attraction of Ulan-Ude. It was erected on the main square of the city on November 5, 1971. The authors of the project are sculptors G.V. Neroda and Y. G. Neroda, the architectural part was designed and made in bronze by A. N. Dushkin and P. G. Zilberman. This project was presented in the Universal exhibitions of Paris and Montreal. The 7.7 meters high sculpture of Lenin’s head weighing 42 tons, stands on a polished granite pedestal. Such statues can be found in Czech Republic, Germany and Yakutia but none of them are as big as this one.
