Opera and Ballet Theatre

The building of the Opera and Ballet Theatre of Buryatia is one of the most beautiful in Ulan-Ude. The construction of this theatre started in 1939 but was stopped by the Second World War. Work resumed in 1945 and was completed in 1952. The interior and exterior decorations use the national ornament. Since 1952 more than 300 plays and shows both in Russian and Buryat language. In recent years the theatre’s company has gone on tours not only in Russian cities but also abroad.
