Museum of Glaciology

The museum of Glaciology, founded from the Institute of Glaciology of the Russian Academy of Science in Yakutsk, is one of the most popular sites in the region. It is in the institute that is located a unique underground laboratory, in the permafrost zone, 12 meters underground. Visitors have the possibility to see the structure of the 10,000 years-old frozen ground. They can admire ancient vegetation and a copy of the famous small mammoth Dima. In the museum visitors can also watch videos and movies, including in English, and follow classes on the various issues of glaciology and ecology.
