The Mosque

The mosque was built in Irkutsk on the initiative of the brothers Zaiduilla and Shaykhulla Shafigullin in 1897. They donated their land and some structures on Salamatovskaya Street (now K. Liebknecht Street) for the mosque. The stone building of the mosque was erected in 1905. Travellers estimate that the mosque in Irkutsk is one of the most beautiful mosques in Russia.
