Mechta Cave ("Dream")

Cave Mechta ("Dream") is the deepest and the longest cave on the shore. The cave has got a great number of branches presented by grottos, halls, and dead ends. It is cold inside the cave with an average temperature of +2-3 Celsius degrees. The cave's walls are covered with sinter ice and icy stalactites, especially dense at the entrance of it. One of the biggest halls is called Tronny ("Throne room") because of the beautiful goldish sinter deposits forming a colossal "throne". Delicate, melodious sounds arising from a mere touch of the stalactites in the second biggest hall in the cave gave origin to its name - Muzykalny (Musical). The most valuable thing in the cave are its sinter deposits of calcite in the form of stalactites and stalagmites that have been shaped through centuries. One of the most beautiful stalagmites is Strazh ("Guard") which is 4 meters high. Mechta Cave stands out from the other caves in Pribaikalye due to its beauty and richness of sinter deposits. Its high passageways allow visitors not to stoop while walking along.
