Burkhan-statue (wooden totem) is a copy of an old statue, which was installed in July 1991 by tourist company at one of the hard-accessible top of the mountain of Pribaikalskiy ridge. The wooden idol was called Burkhan-statue. In the past times similar statues were intended for moving he most worshiped spirits in there. Such wooden statues were installed at the sacred places and were widely spread at Pribaikal territory. It was the time when local people and spirits of forests, lakes and rivers lived in harmony. Then this usual environment was destroyed by men, and such religious totems disappeared in oblivion.
