Museum of regional studies of locomotive station
Local people say that those who haven't visited the locomotive station museum don't know anything about Slyudyanka. The permanent exhibition shows important pages of Russian 20th century history.
Visitors get acquainted with unique historical materials of construction of Circum Baikal Railway - the most beautiful railroad, which engineer constructions harmoniously fit into the distinctive Baikal landscapes. A photo gallery tells about some famous inhabitants of Slyudyanka, their acts of bravery during revolutionary events, Civil war and World war II.
Slyudyanka owes its development to the station, which was built in 1904 at the time of Circum-Baikal railway construction. In the reading hall visitors may use the library, which holds books of history, regional ethnography, archeology, railway transport and rare publications.
