Ekologicheskaya Cave
Ekologicheskaya Cave is the deepest one in Altai. It maximum depth reaches 345 meters. It is one of the symbols of the region.
The first geographic informations about the cave were given in the 1960s. At first, the cave was called Keck-Tash, which in Altai language means “blue stone” (the color of Cambrian limestone). Speleologists of Altai later decided to call it “Ecological Cave”.
The cave is a complex system made up of 10 caves and shafts as well as inclined corridors with different levels with ground variations of 3 to 4 meters. The main chamber is Mrachni. It covers an area of 200 sq-m and is 25 to 35 meters high.
