Larch Forest of Kronotsky Lake’s basin
The Larch Forest of Kronotsky Lake’s basin is among the unique natural sites of Kronotsky National Biosphere Reserve. In the north of the lake, in the watercourses of rivers Listvennichnaya, Unana and Severnaya, the forest covers an area of 4,000ha. It is the continuation of the coniferous Taiga from the central Kamchatka depression.
A rich fauna and flora exists in this forest covered with various coniferous and leafy trees. On its ground grow goodyera repens, wild redcurrant and rowans. Various animals can be met such as: squirrels, Siberian Large-toothed Shrew, a large population of elks, waxwings, grosbeak, northern hawk-owls, etc.
