Ryabushinsky Mansion
Billionaire Stepan Ryabushinsky, banker and manufacturer, put Fyodor Shekhtel, architecture academician, in charge of the construction of his mansion. Shekhtel designed a building that was built between the years 1900 and 1903 and that is a marvel of modern art style.
The architectural elements of the mansion, inside and outside, remind of the Earth and Sea world as they are made of floral and plant decorative details. These participate in given a very special atmosphere to the house.
After the October Revolution, the billionaire’s family left the country. The mansion was nationalized. Later, writer Gorky just back to the USSR occupied the house. In 1965, the apartment in which he lived was turned into a museum.
The interior of the mansion went through a few modifications in its history.
