Gallery Ilya Glazounov
This gallery, opened in 2004, is dedicated to the “people’s artist of the USSR” and member of Russian Fine Arts Academy Ilya Glazounov. This internationally renowned actress was conferred with many honors and prizes.
No less than seven hundred of her paintings are shown in the gallery: historical canvas, portraits, but also theater and opera decors, illustration of Russian literature’s great classics, architectural sketches, etc.
The gallery stands out from others as it not only shows contemporary art works but also unique items from Russian craft industry: wooden and copper icons dating from the 15th to the 19th century, furniture from the late 19th century, etc. Ilya Glazounov gathered them herself and saved them from being destroyed in the Soviet era.
