Alexander Shilov Gallery
This gallery is dedicated to Russian imminent portrait and realist painter Alexander Shilov, born in 1943. Granted with the status of “People’s artist of the USSR” and a member of the Russian fine arts Academy, he is internationally renowned.
In 1996, Alexander Shilov donated a few hundreds of his paintings to Moscow, his native city. A year later, the municipality decided to create the gallery so as to display this unique collection. It opened in a town house built by Russian architect Yefgraf Tiurin in the 19th century.
Since 2003, the gallery moved in a new building located close to Kremlin. Each year it extends its collection with the artist’s work and now counts at least eight hundred items.
