The Andrei Sakharov Museum “Peace, Progress, Human Rights”
This museum, also a public center, was created in 1994 by the Sakharov foundation whose president was no other than Andrei Sakharov’s (1921-1989) wife, Elena Bonner.
It retraces the life and works of the physician and Human Rights activist who was granted the Nobel Peace Prize in 1975. Its second purpose is, through research and exhibitions on the totalitarian past of Russia, to honor the memory of the political repression’s victims and to emphasize on the problems of contemporary Russia.
Moreover the museum hosts many conferences, seminars and discussions.
