Sovremennik Theatre
The Sovremennik Theatre was created in 1956. Although its repertoire included classical plays, it is mostly known for the contemporary productions that it hosted. Frequently in opposition with the Soviet authorities the theatre was often censored.
The Sovremennik Theatre became internationally renowned thanks to the play “Vertigo” (in Russian “Krutoy Marchrut”) that went on tour from 1989. Nowadays “Vertigo” is still playing to packed house.
