This ascent will take you up the nose to discover an unbelievable 360° panorama of the most beautiful places on Lake Baikal: you will see Barguzinsky and Chivyrkuysky Gulfs and their islets, the Ushkany Archipelago and Olkhon Island. This hike is pretty challenging and requires a good level of fitness. Yet, it is well worth the effort becausethe views available from this wild, high peak are splendid beyond belief. However, those who prefer a less intensive hike will be able to climb up to an observation point located halfway to the topthat still offers a superb view of the lake.
The SvyatoyNos Peninsula is the biggest one on Lake Baikal. Its length is 53 km/33 mi and its width is up to 20 km (13 mi). Its summit reaches 1877 m/6160 ft. The peninsula is part ofZabaikalsky National Park. On SvyatoyNos there is a large population of brown bears, which numbers not less than 80 individuals.
