Tour Overview

Tired from noisy city and traffic jams? This week end, it's time to take a train from Saint-Petersburg or Moscow to Petrozavodsk to enjoy Karelian nature and to get new emotions! 

During these three days you will mix cultural part of the tour with active stay. You will visit the open air museum Kizhi included in the UNESCO World Heritage list, where you will go by hovercraft and then you will ride a dog sled and drive a snowmobile on the Lake and in the snow covered forest. This day you have an unusual lunch of Karelian's specialties accompagnied with the folklore show. You will stay in the cosy tourist complex. 

Feel like a real adventurer and may be who knows one day you will decide to experience more?

    Arrival to Petrozavodsk Railway Station
    *The indicated time is only for the train N18 from Moscow. If you are going to take the train N 658, please, notice that the train from Saint-Petersurg arrives at 6:40 and you will have 3 hours fo free time before the tour starts.

    Equipment and briefing
    Upon arrival, equipment and briefing. Snowmobile driving training.

    Snowmobile safari in abandoned villages
    We start a real safari in the frozen Sandal Lake. We gradually increase the speed, feeling confident and incredible freedom! We drive up to Lychny Island, where the wooden church of Peter and Paul has been standing for four centuries (since 1620). This is the oldest church in Karelia! We walk, explore, get inspired. Here we have a picnic with hot tea, taste cranberries in sugar and aromatic Karelian pastries.

    Continuation of snowmobiling
    On the shore of the lake we see a delightful 18th century chapel. We reach Belaya Mountain and visit a partially destroyed 19th century church, designed by the architect of the Moscow Cathedral of Christ the Savior, Konstantin Ton.

    Lunch from traditional soup on cream and taste “royal herring” in a cafe in a cozy base owith a view on the river and old houses on the other side. Learn to fry red fish on a stone.

    Visit of the kennel. This day you will be like a really musher! You will ride a dog sled on the Lake Siamozero, than you will cross the snow covered forest and make a stop for hot tea.

    Return to the resort
    Free time and rest. You can visit a master class on creating the Karelian traditional amulet. After it is possible to have a walk along the paths of the base.
