Arctic

Contrary to Antarctica, the Arctic is composed of many territories and the Arctic Ocean. These territories form the border of the Arctic. The polar climate is characterized by cold temperatures and permafrost. Two types of glaciers compose the ice surface of the Arctic: the one of fresh water and the other of sea water. They differ in density and qualitative properties. The Arctic includes the lands of several countries such as: Greenland, Russia, Canada, United States, Finland, Norway and Sweden. In this way, Russia owns many large archipelagos, for example, Franz Josef Land, Novaya Zemlya, the New Siberian Islands and Wrangel Island.
