On the third of this building on Grazhdanskaya street is supposed to have lived Rodion Raskolnikov. This character, main protagonist of Dostoyevsky's novel ''Crime and Punishment” was renting a room there. Published in 1866, this work is among the great classics of Russian literature.
The corner facade of the building has a bronze low-relied. 1.65 meters-high it depicts the Russian writer. A granite plate reads the following words: ”The tragic fates of the people of this area of St Petersburg formed the foundation of Dostoyevsky's passionate sermon of goodness for all mankind”.
