Central Museum of the Railway

This museum founded in 1813 used to be hosted in the Yusupov Palace on Sadovaya Street. Since 1902, it is located in a building that was purpose-built in the garden of the estate. The museum tells the story of Railways in Russian and the ex-USSR from the 19th century to the present day. Its collection gathers over fifty thousand items including small-scale models, engines and other railway material. Models of locomotives and wagons are also displayed. A section is dedicated to the evolution of bridge building.
