Russian Museum of Ethnography
This museum is among the largest of the kind in Europe. Founded in 1902, it is hosted in a building purpose-built by architect Vasily Svilin.
Completed since 1948 with the collection of the Moscow Museum of the peoples of the USSR, the museum now contains over fifty thousand items. It mentions all the ethnic groups that inhabit Russia (158 groups) as well as those of the neighboring countries. The documents gathered cover a period from the 18th century to the present day.
