ROSPHOTO Center

This center aims to be both a museum and an exhibition hall. It was created in 2002 by the Ministry of Culture. It displays the work of Russian and foreigner figures of photography. An important part is also dedicated to contemporary artists who have a narrow link with photography. Each year about fifty exhibitions are organized in the center. Most of the projects have a scientific aim. Therefore the center works with institutes and museums in Russia and in Europe such as the Musee d'Orsay in Paris. It also creates techniques of restoration, conservation and preservation of all kinds of photographic equipment. Finally ROSPHOTO has its own education center. It gives classes in history and theory of photography and organizes a yearly conference called ”Photography in the Museum”.
