Monument the ”Invisible Man”

This monument is among the most originals in Saint Petersburg. It is made of a pedestal with the inscription ”Invisible Man”. The fact that it is located near a mental hospital makes it all the more mysterious. Actually until 1931 a statue of Nicolas I was standing on that pedestal. It honored the memory of the Emperor who financed the construction of the hospital, which was a government hospital at first. The pedestal is the only part of the monument that escaped the dismantlement and certain melting.
