Monument to Ivan Ayvazovsky
Ivan Ayvazovsky (1817-1900) was a Russian painter of Armenian origin. He completed over a thousand paintings, half of them related to the sea. In 1845 he became painter of the Russian Navy which allowed him to wear the uniform.
Located in the city-fortress of Kronstadt, this bust, unveiled in 2007, is the first monument dedicated to the artist. Its author, sculptor Vladimir Gorievoy, depicted him in the middle of his work, a palette in his hand and a brush in the other.
