Bust of Mikhail Lomonosov

The decision of erecting a monument to Mikhail Lomonosov (1711-1765) was taken by the Duma of Saint Petersburg during the reign of Alexander III. The bronze bust depicting the Russian scholar was designed by Russian sculptor Parmen Zabello. It was unveiled in 1892 on the square that had already been called after him. Right behind the monument is located the former Ministry of National Education of the Russian Empire.
